Privacy Policy

Rudra Yogpeeth is a residential yoga school in Rishikesh, India. This policy explains what personal information we collect through www.rudrayogpeeth.org, why we collect it, who it is shared with and what you can ask us to do with it. It applies to this website and to enquiries that reach us through it.

1. Who we are

Rudra Yogpeeth is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

2. Information you give us

Our enquiry, enrolment and contact forms ask for only what we need to answer you and hold a place on a course:

• Your name
• Your e-mail address
• Your phone or WhatsApp number, including the country code
• The course you are asking about and the month you are considering
• Your accommodation preference, where the form asks for it
• Anything you choose to write in the message box
• The page you were on when you sent the form, so we know what you were reading

If you download a free e-book from this site, we also record which e-book you asked for.

Please do not send us medical records, identity documents, payment card numbers or other sensitive details through a website form. If we need any of that to process a booking, we will ask you for it directly.

3. Information collected automatically

• Your IP address is recorded alongside a form submission. We use it only to tell genuine enquiries apart from automated spam.
• Analytics data — pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived — is collected by Google Analytics 4 and the Meta Pixel. See section 6.
• Your country is looked up once from your IP address so the phone field can show the right dialling code by default. The answer is kept in your own browser for a day and is not sent to us.
• Server logs kept by our hosting provider record requests made to the site in the ordinary course of running a web server.

4. Why we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and send you course details, dates and fees
• To confirm and administer a booking you make with us
• To send you the e-book or other material you asked for
• To keep our own record of enquiries so we can follow up properly
• To protect the site and our forms from spam and abuse
• To understand which pages are useful and improve them

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with other schools, agents or marketing lists.

5. Our legal basis

Where Indian law applies, we process your information on the basis of the consent you give by submitting a form, and for the legitimate purpose of answering you and running the school. Where the GDPR applies because you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, our bases are:

• Consent — for analytics and advertising tools, and for sending you material you asked for
• Steps taken at your request before entering a contract — answering your enquiry and holding your place
• Performance of a contract — administering a course you have booked
• Legitimate interests — keeping the website secure and our records accurate

6. Who we share it with

Your information reaches a small number of service providers, each for one purpose:

• Google (Analytics 4). Measures how the site is used. It sets its own cookies and may process data outside India. Google Privacy Policy · Opt out
• Meta Platforms (Meta Pixel). Records page views so we can measure advertising. Meta Privacy Policy
• Google (Sheets and Apps Script). Form submissions are written to a private spreadsheet we use as our enquiry record.
• Our e-mail and hosting providers. Form submissions are sent to our inbox and the site is served from our host's servers.
• Google Maps is embedded on the contact page. Opening that page loads content from Google, which can see your IP address.

We will also disclose information if we are required to by law, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

This site does not set cookies of its own for advertising or tracking. Cookies are set by Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel, as described above, and you can block or delete them in your browser settings. Browser-level tools and extensions that block these scripts also work on this site.

We additionally use your browser's own storage for small conveniences: remembering a half-finished enquiry so a refresh does not lose it, remembering that you have already closed a pop-up, and caching pages so the site loads faster on a return visit. None of that is sent to us or to anyone else.

8. International transfers

We are based in India and our records are held in India and on the servers of the providers named above, which may be located elsewhere. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, this means your information may be transferred outside that area. We only use established providers who offer appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

9. How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for up to three years from your last contact with us, so that we can recognise you if you come back to a later batch. Records relating to a course you actually attended — including your certificate record — are kept for longer, because they are part of the school's permanent training record and may be needed to verify your qualification. Analytics data is retained according to Google's and Meta's own retention settings.

You can ask us to delete your information sooner. See section 10.

10. Your rights

Whatever country you are in, you may ask us to:

• Tell you what information we hold about you, and give you a copy
• Correct anything that is wrong or out of date
• Delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
• Stop using it for a particular purpose, or withdraw consent you gave earlier
• Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you are unable to

Write to info@rudrayogpeeth.org with the words Privacy request in the subject line and we will reply within 30 days. There is no charge.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, or — if you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area — to your national supervisory authority.

11. Children

Our courses are intended for adults and this website is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us their details, write to us and we will delete them.

12. Security

The site is served over HTTPS, our enquiry records are kept in password-protected accounts, and access is limited to the people at the school who need it to answer you. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take the protection of your information seriously.

13. Links to other websites

This site links to places such as our Google Business Profile, our social media pages and the Yoga Alliance school directory. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else's website, governed by their privacy policy, not this one.

14. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be made clear on the page rather than buried in it.
